FAQ stamp cards and start times

On your personal page “login for members,” you will find your start position (=start group and start number). If the Elfstedentocht is announced, the start times will also be published on this personal page.

This is not possible. If you want to skate together with someone from another group, the person in the earlier start group will have to wait for the person in the later start group. Only then can you start together and skate the tour together. In other words, starting later is allowed, but starting earlier is not.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Annually, just before the collection round (late September/early October), the number of cancellations and transitions will be reviewed. The number of available places will be filled by waiting list members in order of receipt. In other words, if there are 25 cancellations, the first 25 people on the waiting list will be promoted to riding members. There are 30,000 start places available, and we know from experience that about 80% of eligible starters will show up for the Elfstedentocht. 80-90% is also the maximum number we can handle on the ice. We will not fill unclaimed start places with waiting list members.

If you login to your personal page after 1 april, you will find these data empty. This is because we are already preparing for the tour of the next year. New data will be visible in november. You will also receive this data with the Elfstedenbrief and the invitation for the upcoming general members meeting.

This is not possible

• Registration occurs the day before the Elfstedentocht in the Elfstedenhal (Ice skating hall) in Leeuwarden.

a) Log in to your personal page on our website.
b) A payment link from Eventim will be available.
c) Complete the payment process and receive a payment receipt for the registration fee.
d) On the day of registration (the day before the Elfstedentocht), arrive at the Elfstedenhal at the time block indicated on your personal page.
e) Bring the following items to registration for identification:

• Payment receipt for the registration fee
• Membership card
• A valid ID

f) Once you have been identified, you will receive your start card and accompanying materials at the registration unit.

This is not allowed. The membership card, membership, and start card are strictly personal and non-transferable.

This is not allowed; you must pick up the start card yourself. If you are unable to register the day before the Elfstedentocht due to being abroad, we ask you to contact us.

You may not let someone else skate under your name/card. This will be carefully checked during registration. If you, as a member, pass on or sell your card, sanctions will follow.

Even people with foreign nationality must be members of our Association to participate in the Elfstedentocht on skates.

Participants who pass checkpoints after the closing time are not allowed to continue and must immediately leave the ice and the route.

• Stavoren: 15:30
• Hindeloopen: 16:00
• Workum: 16:30
• Harlingen: 18:15
• Franeker: 19:00
• Alde Leie (8 km before Bartlehiem): 21:00
• Dokkum: 22:45
• Leeuwarden: 00:00

The start is off the ice for the following reasons:
a) To spread out participants as they enter the ice.
b) To create space for spectators in Leeuwarden to watch the start.
These measures ensure greater safety for both participants and visitors.

Normally, participants must walk about 1 kilometre from the Elfstedenhal to the industrial area the Zwette to put on their skates.
If the Van Harinxmakanaal cannot be skated immediately after the start, an alternative route will require participants to walk approximately 2.5 kilometres to a bridge further down industrial area the Zwette.

You will be transported to the Elfstedenhal by the buses arranged by the Association. You need to check out here by handing in your start card. You will receive proof of the return of your start card.

No, that is not necessary. However, it is recommended to inform your family or friends so they are aware, which avoids questions to the organisation.
