Cherished proof of a unique sporting achievement

The Elfstedentocht Medal

Every participant who completes the race or tour within the set time* and collects all the stamps receives the highly appreciated Elfstedentocht Medal The cross was designed in 1909. It consists of a medal in the shape of a Maltese cross with a circular centre. This centrepiece contains the coat of arms of Fryslân in enamel. The inscription reads "De Friesche Elf Steden."

In 2009, the Association was granted the royal designation Koninklijk, and the cross was updated to include a royal crown. These royal crosses will be awarded for the first time after the next tour.
